Spreader Beams:
Specs & Testing
Destruction Testing:
MDC have carried out destruction testing using our specially developed compression test rig. The load at failure exceeded 4 times SWL at the maximum span.
This verifies that the Modulift design complies with and exceeds the requirements
of the EC Machinery Directive 98/37/EEC and the UK adoptive legislation Supply
of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 1992. (S.I. 1992/3073) and Supply of Machinery
(Safety) (Amendment) Regulations 1994. (S.I. 1994/2063).
Proof load Testing:
Each modulift series has been proof load tested to 1.25 x SWL at both maximum
SWL and maximum span. This testing has been carried out "live" using dead weights,
and also in MDC's compression test rig.
Design Standards:
The design of the Modulift range complies with and exceeds the requirements of the following Codes:
- BS2573: Rules for the Design of Cranes: Part 1: Spec. for classification, stress calcs & design criteria for structures.
- DNV Rules for Marine Operations 1996: Part 1 Ch. 4: Structural Design.
- DNV Rules for Marine Operations 1996: Part 2 Ch. 5: Lifting.
- Lloyds Register: Code of Practice for Lifting Appliances.
- ASME B30.20 -1999: Below-the-Hook Lifting Devices.
- The EC Machinery Directive 98/37/EEC and the UK adoptive legislation, Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 1992. (S.I. 1992/3073) and Supply of Machinery (Safety) (Amendment) Regulations 1994. (S.I. 1994/2063)
- All modulift components carry the CE mark.
MDC are pursuing DNV Type Approval by end of 2003.
